With a compact design for solo shooters, for travel applications, and to serve as an ideal B cam, the Sony FX3 borrows from both the Cinema Line and Alpha series of cameras to create an optimized portable cinema camera. The FX3 features all the imaging attributes you'd expect from this class but sports a new lightweight, handheld form with a streamlined profile and a "cage-free" design offering the ability to secure various accessories directly to the camera body.

Sony FX3 full-frame cinema camera, the most compact Cinema Line camera was designed for solo-shooting . With the internal cooling system the FX3 can extend the shooting time and will be able to cover a wider range of shooting situations. It records outstanding 4K full frame quality at up to 120p with minimal rolling shutter, excellent low light capabilities (up to 409,800 ISO) and a wide dynamic range thanks to its 10.2 MP Exmore R CMOS sensor and new Bins XR processor. It allows for more shooting expressions with the inclusion of S-LOG3 and S-CINETONE picture profiles defining a new era of Cinema line cameras from Sony.
The Sony FX3 also provides more freedom for shooting videos with a fast and accurate Autofocus technology including Real-time Eye Autofocus, Real-time touch tracking and customizable autofocus tracking sensitivity. It also includes a 5axis in body stabilization with Active Mode, which makes it ideal for handheld shots. On top of its small form factor, the Sony FX3 includes a detachable top-handle with XLR inputs for professional microphones or audio connections. The idea of a cage with the grip and screw options is already integrated in the body design, which is emphasizing the compact form factor. The Sony Cinema line FX3 is designed for the future of cinematic expressions.
Expressive UHD 4K Video Capture
The FX3's 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor (10.2MP effective in video mode) is paired with a BIONZ XR processor to achieve UHD 4K video capture with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling or 16-bit raw output. The sensor's BSI design heightens clarity and sensitivity, with an expandable ISO 80-409,600 range and greater-than 15-stop dynamic range for working in mixed lighting conditions. Benefitting color and tonal control, the S-Cinetone mode can be used for matching to VENICE, FX9, or FX6 sources, and there is also S-Log3/2 gamut support and 10-bit HLG for simple HDR productions. The sensor and processor also work together to greatly reduce rolling shutter, and the sensor's design incorporates a Fast Hybrid AF system for intelligent and quick focusing performance and subject tracking.

The high-precision AF and high-speed readout capabilities of the Sony Alpha FX3 allow for the acquisition of detailed 4K imagery even at high frame rates. You have complete control over the shooting frame rate using the Slow and Quick (S&Q) mode, allowing for stunning motion sequences at up to 5x slow motion (with 24p output).
10-bit S-Log3 and HDR recording for smooth gradations
S-Gamut3.Cine and S-Log3 gamma curves make it possible to shoot with high-quality color reproduction over a wide dynamic range, and they also make it simple to match footage with pictures from Sony Alpha FX3 Cinema Line cameras during post-production. Additionally, an HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) HDR picture profile allows for direct HDR (HLG) playback on compatible TVs without any additional post-production.
16-bit RAW HDMI output
While XAVC HS 4K, XAVC S 4K, XAVC S-I 4K, and proxy files are simultaneously captured in-camera, 16-bit RAW output is available over HDMI connection to suitable external recorders for demanding post-production workflows. RAW video output exceeds DCI-4K resolution at 4264 x 2408 [16:9] resolution.
Smooth transitions and touch focus control
The Sony Alpha FX3 has five AF Subject Shift Sensitivity settings that let the user choose how readily AF will switch or stay with the locked-on subject.
